The Most Expensive Fish In The World

16 06 2009

tunaThe Most expensive fish ever caught and sold was a 444lb bluefin tuna sold in Japan’s famous Tsukiji market in Tokyo in January of 2001. The fish was sold for $173,600, which is $391 per lb. The fish was caught off the Northern shore of Japan, an area known for it’s high quality tuna. Bluefin tuna can reach up to 1,500 lbs.

The bluefin tuna is overfished and probably shouldn’t be consumed for ecological reasons, but god damn, it’s delicious.
